Coping with a diagnosis of cancer presents unique and personal challenges.  Treatment can cause disruptions in function and well-being. The licensed therapists at Bethesda Outpatient Rehabilitation are prepared to deal individually with your special needs and assist you in optimizing your daily activities.

Chronic Fatigue
Treatment sessions are designed to help you:

  • Learn to conserve energy in your everyday activities.
  • Maximize limited energy with methods that simplify daily activities and learn to pace yourself. 
  • Achieve maximum independence in activities of daily living with adaptive equipment and techniques. 
  • Learn about stress relievers and coping skills as you adjust to lifestyle and self-image changes. 

 

Generalized Weakness
Treatment sessions are designed to help you:

  • Reach maximum independence in your ability to move and change positions during daily activities through strength, flexibility and endurance conditioning.
  •  Learn to regulate and grade your own exercise program. 
  • Achieve optimal levels of independence in activities of daily living with adaptive techniques, equipment or environmental adaptations. 
     

Neurological Symptoms
Treatment sessions are designed to help you:

  • Achieve maximum functions of your arms and legs through activities such as range of motion, strengthening, muscle re-education, and coordination.
  • Increase your ability to walk and change positions with ambulation and balance training. 
  • Become as independent as possible with activities of daily living by participating in cognitive, visual perceptual or sensory retraining and learning about adaptive techniques, equipment and environmental adaptations. 
  • Receive an assessment for supportive devices when indicated. 
     

Pathological Fractures
Treatment sessions are designed to help you:

  • Achieve maximum possible range of motion in your effected joints.
  • Learn to protect your joints from further strain or injury. 
  • Reach optimal levels of independence with your activities of daily living with adaptive techniques, equipment or environmental adaptations. 
  • Adjust to physical limitations by learning adaptive techniques and coping skills. 
  • Receive an assessment for supportive devices when indicated. 
     

Peripheral Neuropathy
Treatment sessions are designed to assist you with:

  • Learn to protect your skin to compensate for sensory loss.
  • Learn how to regulate and grade your own exercise program. 
  • Adjust to physical limitations with adaptive techniques and coping skills. 
  • Reach maximum independence with activities of daily living using adaptive techniques, equipment or environmental adaptations. 
  • Receive an assessment for supportive devices when indicated.
